  • Do I need Employers Liability Insurance?
    In the Republic of Ireland Employers Liability is not compulsory. However you are responsible for the health and safety of your employees while they are at work.

    Employers Liability insurance will enable you to meet the cost of compensation for your employees injuries or illness which occur while your employees are working for you.
  • What type of businesses do you cover?
    We cover most businesses and professions from Sole Traders to large Limited Companies. Whether you wish to insure your small shop or large manufacturing plant, QUINN-Insurance can look after your insurance needs.
  • Is there an excess on the policy?
    Yes, all our policies carry an excess. We are open to discuss various excess options on all quotations. This partnership approach provides discounted premiums for policyholders.

    In addition, we will pay up to 50% of the excess on liability policies (up to a maximum of €5,000) to policyholders who help us avoid legal costs.
  • What is a policy excess?
    This is the first amount of any claim that you must pay. We will pay the balance.
  • What payment options are available?
    You may choose to pay your premium by Cash, Cheque or Credit Card or spread the cost over the year with our Direct Debit plan.
  • Who do I contact if I need to make changes to my policy?
    When you take out a policy you will be given contact details of a dedicated account handler for any queries.
  • How long will it take to get a quotation?
    If you call us we can generally provide a quote within 10 minutes. If you complete the quotation request form we will call you at a time that suits within 48 hours of receiving it.
  • How long are quotations valid for?
    Quotations are valid for 30 days.
  • How do I go on cover?
    You should telephone your account handler who can provide cover with immediate effect.
  • What information do I need to provide for a quote?
    If you are renewing your existing insurance policy it will be helpful to have your current policy schedule available when you call.

    If you are setting up a new business one of our experienced business account handlers will assist you through the quotation process.
  • Will QUINN-Insurance carry out a survey??
    Our specialist survey team randomly select customers and may attend your premises to offer free risk management advice. There is no charge for this service.
  • Who regulates QUINN-Insurance?
    QUINN-Insurance is a business name licensed for use by Liberty Mutual Direct Insurance Company Limited.

    Liberty Mutual Direct Insurance Company Limited is regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland and is registered in Ireland, registration number 494729.
  • Are there additional charges over and above the premium?
    All insurance premiums are subject to a 3% Government Levy. Any additional premiums charged to existing policies as from 1st January 2012 will also include 2% Insurance Compensation Fund levy. The 2% Insurance Compensation Fund levy is applied to new business and renewal premiums for policies which commence on or after 1st January 2012.
  • How do I renew my policy?
    When your insurance policy is due for renewal we will notify you in writing approximately 30 calendar days in advance.
  • How do I report an incident or claim?
    Incidents that may give rise to a claim must be reported to QUINN-Insurance Immediately on

  • Do I have to report every incident or claim?
    All incidents which may give rise to a claim must be reported to QUINN-Insurance immediately.
  • What information will I need to provide in the event of an incident or claim?
    Please ensure you have full details of the claim including: policy number, name and contact details, date and location of incident, circumstances surrounding the incident and third party details if applicable.
  • What happens after I have reported an incident or claim?
    On receipt of your information a Liability Report Form will be sent to you. A Regional Claims Manager is appointed on all claims received if further investigation is required and they will make contact with you.
  • When do I need to pay the excess on a claim?
    Once QUINN-Insurance has made a payment the excess will immediately become due.
